Project Brief
Design the brand identity for a new virtual CPS school for students PreK-12. The mascot will be the Vipers. We need a school seal, mascot, and wordmark. We also need letterhead templates and business cards to match the new branding.
Process
As shown below, I follow this same process for all my logo designs. First I look at reference materials, then move onto sketching and thumbnailing phase. I select the best options from those, and start to create vector graphics. For this project I started with the mascot head, and then created a full body version to match. After that I created the school seal and workmark to complete the brand kit. After reviewing the initial drafts with the client, we decided to make the mascot less scary, and soften the colors. The seal needed to include more Chicago iconography, as this school will represent kids from all parts of Chicago. After a second pass, these final logos were made.
